Our charity operates as an essential emergency service, providing pre-packed food parcels to individuals facing financial crisis and food poverty. We understand that hunger is a pressing issue in our local community, and too many families are struggling to put food on their tables due to circumstances beyond their control. The challenges posed by the Coronavirus pandemic and the rising cost of living have only intensified the demand for food parcels and urgent support.
Chelwood Foodbank Plus was founded in 2013 at Chelwood Baptist Church, with the collaboration of Minister Rev Steve Hough and the late ex-Council employee, Marc Godwin. Following Marc's sudden passing, the Foodbank continued to grow and flourish, becoming a community-driven initiative. Under the guidance of Manager Linzie Hogan, the goodwill and support from numerous individuals in Stockport have been harnessed to develop and deliver the vital services we provide today.
Our primary mission is to be a lifeline for those in need, offering pre-packed food parcels to support individuals and families facing financial hardship and food insecurity. Clients can access our service up to a maximum of three visits within a 13-week period. For those requiring longer-term assistance, we recommend considering joining a food club, a solution we are eager to discuss further during your visit(s).
Our vision is to combat poverty in Stockport, empowering people to lead productive and fulfilled lives. To achieve this, our mission is to offer support to families and individuals in the Stockport Borough experiencing food and financial poverty. We supply or deliver essential items such as food, toiletries, and household goods, alongside providing referrals to other valuable sources of support.
